Jul24Question : My son , age 57 has had Pnuemonia three times this year. It keeps coming back on him. They put him on that z pack and it takes three doses of it to get him well again. He has a history of heart problems, heart attack at age 39, and had 20 % damage to the heart. , also a grand Mall seizure several years ago.. other wise he is pretty healthy. Someone told me of another man who had these same symptoms and they determined that he had lupus . Can you explain what it is like and what to do if it is that?
Answer : Dear jacustomer,
I am sorry to know about your son`s recurrent history of penumonia,
based on what you mentioned,I will advise that he sees a physician who can do a physical exam, chest ct scan as underlying endobronchial lesion could be a possible cause for recurrent infections, which needs to be ruled out.
Also ask the physician to do immunolgobulin levels like IgA,IgG,IgM as low immunogloubulin levels also could be underlying cause of recurrent penumonia, which alo needs to be ruled out.
Thanks
