Question : My granddaughter is 24 weeks. Her ultra sound showed that the sach is not growing along with the baby. Next week they will do another ultra sound and if there is no change they will take the baby. What are his odds at survival at 25 weeks?

Answer : If no steroids were given to help promote lung maturity, survival is aroudn 5% of less – steroids are very important -and if she was being followed, then steroids are routinely given at 24 weeks if an ob/gyn thinks an early delivery might be needed.
